On October 9, 2025, the air at FC4S Lagos buzzed with purpose and optimism as thought leaders, innovators, and changemakers converged for the DICE Africa Inception Meeting a milestone event hosted by the Nigeria Climate Innovation Centre (NCIC) in partnership with Financial Center For Sustainability (FC4S).

This gathering marked the official launch of the DICE Africa Project, an initiative set to transform how digital and smart solutions shape circular economy systems across Africa, from Nigeria to Ghana, Senegal, and Côte d’Ivoire.

The day began with warmth and anticipation as guests arrived, registered, and settled into the vibrant venue. The atmosphere was filled with a shared vision to build a more sustainable, inclusive, and innovative Africa.

Setting the tone for the day, Adamu Garba (COO, NCIC) delivered a compelling welcome address, reaffirming NCIC’s commitment to bridging innovation and sustainability while empowering African SMEs to thrive in a circular economy.

The momentum continued with goodwill messages from:

Mrs. Erin Tansey, Director of Inclusive Economies at IDRC, who spoke passionately about the importance of partnerships and inclusivity in driving impact; and

Dr. Peter Bamkole, Chairman of the NCIC Board, whose words underscored the need for strategic collaboration across public and private sectors to strengthen circular systems in Africa.

One of the defining moments of the day came with the presentation of the DICE Africa Project by Miss Precious Francis, who walked participants through the project’s vision, methodology, and inception report. Her presentation shed light on how digital innovation and smart solutions can accelerate progress in Africa’s
circular economy unlocking opportunities in waste management, resource efficiency, and sustainable production.

This was followed by a fireside chat with Bankole Oloruntoba (CEO, NCIC), who emphasized the organization’s drive to lead sustainable transformation across industries, and a keynote address by Rojas-Arbulú Carlos, Deputy High Commissioner of the Canadian Consulate, Lagos. His talk, titled “Digital Innovations as a Catalyst for Africa’s Circular Economy,” offered deep insights into how technology can power resilience and inclusivity across the continent.

The day wrapped up in an engaging panel discussion, skillfully moderated by Miss Precious Francis, where experts from diverse sectors shared their perspectives on “Scaling Circular Economy SME Clusters in Africa through Digital Transformation and Inclusive Finance.”
