DICE Africa Inception Meeting: Pioneering Digital Solutions for a Sustainable Future in Africa

On October 9, 2025, Lagos became a hub of innovation and collaboration as thought leaders, innovators, and changemakers gathered for the DICE Africa Inception Meeting at FC4S Lagos.
Hosted by the Nigeria Climate Innovation Centre (NCIC) in partnership with the Financial Center For Sustainability (FC4S), this landmark event officially launched the DICE Africa Project, designed to accelerate digital and smart solutions that transform circular economy systems across Africa, spanning Nigeria, Ghana, Senegal, and Côte d’Ivoire.

A Gathering of Visionaries

The day began with anticipation and excitement. Guests from technology, finance, sustainability, and entrepreneurship sectors arrived early, registering and networking. The venue buzzed with energy as participants shared ideas, insights, and strategies to advance Africa’s circular economy.

Inspiring Messages from Partners

The event featured key insights from DICE Africa partners:

  • Mrs. Erin Tansey, Director of Inclusive Economies at IDRC, highlighted the critical role of partnerships and inclusivity in driving lasting impact.
  • Dr. Peter Bamkole, Chairman of the NCIC Board, stressed strategic collaboration between public and private sectors as essential to strengthening circular systems.

Sharing Knowledge and Building Connections

Beyond the speeches, the meeting provided an interactive platform for discussions, idea exchange, and networking. SME founders shared their experiences, revealing both the challenges and opportunities in adopting circular economy practices. These conversations highlighted the need for capacity-building, tailored support, and regional collaboration, the core objectives of DICE Africa.
Participants also explored how digital technologies, from smart monitoring systems to data-driven insights, can enhance operational efficiency, reduce environmental impact, and enable innovative business models.

Setting the Stage for Action

The inception meeting was more than a launch; it was a springboard for future activities. Stakeholders outlined plans for:

  • Workshops and training programs to equip SMEs with practical skills
  • Pilot projects to demonstrate digital circular solutions
  • Knowledge-sharing platforms to foster cross-border collaboration.

Looking Ahead

As the day concluded, the sense of purpose and possibility was palpable. The DICE Africa Project is poised to become a catalyst for sustainable economic development, driving innovation, inclusivity, and resilience across Africa. With collaboration and creativity as guiding principles, stakeholders are ready to turn ideas into action and build a more sustainable, innovative, and inclusive Africa.
